The Home Front in the Second World War

by David (D. B.) Scott (Series: About Canada, Canadian Studies Program of the Dept. of Canadian Heritage) - Published by Minister of Supply and Services Canada, 1995 - 29 pages of English text and 29 pages of French text

The book is divided into the following sections:
  • Introduction
  • The Threshold of War
  • The War Comes Home
  • Many Hands, Much Work
  • A Final Word

It is a short by succinct summary of the Canadian home front during the war. Civilians not only provided the hardware of war but extended moral support to men and women serving overseas. Everyone was employed and working toward one aim - winning the war. Over six years the country underwent many significant changes.

Good information is presented in a very readable style. The short bibliography suggests pertinent publications for further reading.
