(Radio)

Lowell Huestis worked part-time at CHGS during the war. His full time position was in the wallpaper department at Holman's. The station would come on at 7:30 in the morning for an hour. It would be on the air again from 10-2 and then 4-9. He recalls that every night around 8:45 someone from the telephone company would call to get the daily report about how many hours the station had accessed CBC broadcasts. He remembers reading live commercials sometimes with unwanted background noise from inside the store or from the railway cars passing by outside. The station closed on 31 March 1948 when Holman's decided not to renew the licence.
