Most of the interaction between RCAF personnel and local citizens took place in the town of Summerside and surrounding areas. However, there were some opportunities for the ordinary people to visit the Station. There were quite a few civilians who held jobs there - as many as 212 in January 1944 - but as a general rule, civilians did not go onto the property without an invitation or an authorized purpose.
Members of the public received invitations to special receptions and dances, to witness wings parades, and to greet visiting dignitaries. Young women were bused into the Station in the early days of the No. 9 School to be dance partners for the airmen. The principal opportunities for visiting the airport are described in this section of the website: Graduations (wing parades), "Open House" and, Welcoming Dignitaries.
